So fucking bored right now. I'm waiting for Chemakil to get home which problably wont be for another 3 hours. I really want to spin dome records, but I feel totally uninspired to. I need new records now!!!!! If anyone wants to help me with my record fund, please do. I almost wonder if thats why things have been shityy lately.....cuz I havent been spinning? Well, I shoudl go force myself.
Mars Volta in June....gonna be nice seeing them live finally. I really want to see QOTSA too, but too much money, too little time.
I dunno if I shoudl take this job that I'm applying for. Its at a pretty chill cd store and its laid back. But I dunno.....I dont think I will be making enough. I fucking hate making decosions! It seems like every decision I make is a very vital one.
All I know is the new Beck cd is awesome. I reccomend songs "que onda queru" and "hell yes." Beck is back and not shitty anymore.
Other song of the day:
Mars Volta - Aria Tarka

My love is dutch/german trance, the 140+ hard synth stab variety. Early in my career, I grabbed every tape of Ferry Corsten that I could, and studied the shit out of them. A very close second are big room NYC house ala the now-defunct Thunderpuss, and Florida breaks ala Sharaz and Icey. I try to fuse the blatantly familiar with the bangers as I can, so top 40 remixes (only the REALLY good ones, most suck monkey), remakes and CJ Stone-ish 'drop into a sample and come out with an anthem' tracks are okay, though in limited quantity.
With work (and because Pittsburgh hates "dance music"), I end up spinning mainstream hip-hop and a sprinkle of older house at my radio station's club nights, because that's what almost everyone wants to hear at these clubs. (Club after club opens with an all-house format each year, and falls flat on its face, and it always takes a music change to get it off the ground.)
The whole "disco house when you're mad" thing started in college. I found that it's REALLY hard to be angry when you're mixing music that's just so damn happy all the time, and it's not as hard to mix as some other styles. So, my roommate
I'm not afraid to play whatever, but keeping it kinda familiar instead of playing stuff that no one knows all night is really how I separate myself from every other DJ in Picksburgh innat. The ones that actually mix, anyway.
It pays, and I play to one to two thousand people in the club and 500,000 people on the air per night, but it's (hopefully) not the end of the journey. It's also not my primary job, and my primary job takes much longer to explain (and this is long enough as it is). I miss Philly, and I've never been out your way for anything (yet).
Will drop-ship a CD or something if you want to hear. Hesitant to give links out these days...
