today feels like a day to think about "best of".

best of poems (english) has a clear winner:

"When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee? "


the hard one is best poem (german), but after quiet some thought i came to this:

"Und auch den Ku, ich htt ihn lngst vergessen
nicht die Wolke dagewesen wr
Die wei ich noch und werd ich immer wissen
Sie war sehr wei und kam von oben her.
Die Pflaumenbume blhn vielleicht noch immer
Und jene Frau hat jetzt vielleicht das siebte Kind
Doch jene Wolke blhte nur Minuten
Und als ich aufsah, schwand sie schon im Wind."
