Viva Las Vegas!!
As for the rundown of what we did, please see Schiavona's post--he does a nice job of summarizing. Now, I'm going to give you travel tips as I see it for going to LV.
1. If you don't really like people (like in large, gaping, rude groups) do not go to Las Vegas. There are hordes of people running around gaping at the neon, taking photos and generally coming to a dead stop in front of you with no warning. Dodging people is a constant game in LV and if you're uptight about crowds, you are gonna have issues.
2. LV is noisy and smoky. Perhaps I just haven't been living in a big city for awhile, but I was surprised at how much noise and cigarette smoke and lights and stuff to look at and . . . Once again, ADHD people be prepared.
3. Take comfortable shoes. Bear in mind that even walking around your hotel will take time and a bit of effort (especially if yer a lazy slug like I am). Allow lots of time to get places and do things. Even if that aquarium is in the next hotel over, it may take 15 minutes to walk over there and get in.
4. Getting tickets for shows. This is tricky. If there is a topline show you *really* want to see--decide when you're going and get tickets before you get there. If you have some flexibility, you can get discounts, but not the half price they're advertising and it's gonna take you a couple of hours. For the second tier shows and some standing events (like Star Trek Experience or some of the adult shows) you can definitely get the half price tickets the same day--here again, gonna take an hour or two, but the next day you can get in the VIP line and it will take less time. Basically, you need to balance losing a morning to getting that discount.
Overall, I highly recommend Las Vegas--we kept busy the whole time and there was a bunch of stuff we didn't get to do. And I think there's something for everyone, there's a million different kinds of things to do.
