Yeah, having a cello is cool and all, but I only play it like a standup bass horsing around... I remember my brother had stickers to indicate where the frets should be at first, I will prolly just break out the tuner and line som tape or whatever... I am just now learning how to read music, perhaps it would com in handy with the bass, er, upright bass specifically. I am sad to loose an instrament, cuz I have over dubbed one or two cello passes in the past for my own music, BUT my business partner's girlfriend is a SICK SICK SICK cello player, so if I need harmonies in my tunes, she is the one to call upon. BTW, if you ever record cello, the SM57 is THE mic to use. Dont laugh, its a perfect match. While at Sorcerer Sound, I got heat from ONE cello player about that, and I said if she could tell the difference between a $5000 U67 and a $70 SM57, I would go with her choice. They sounded exactly the same, she was speechless. IMO, Cello is a muddy instrament that is in the back, doing harmonies, so using a mic that suits those EXACT needs works better than just using "a good mic"
damn man, didnt mean to ramble.
