From an early age, I was predicted to be a creative soul. Well known New Zealand author and family friend Barry Crump told my mother I would be a writer of children's books when I was only three. At five I was doodling landscapes of battle scenes, with intricately drawn tanks and trucks.
I relished my art classes during school and once the subject became elective, it was the first subject I chose for the school year. I never pursued writing but selling books became my career when I left school and I have always been a keen reader. Artistically, I have dabbled in various mediums to keep my creative senses from seizing up but have never focused seriously, while around me the creative talents of my family grow and become finely tuned. My Grandfather is an artist and photographer who spent his whole life doing portraits. My Mother at the age of 60 has just completed an art degree and has opened her own art school teaching children, and my uncle Robert (whom I have never met) does amazing sculptures which end up in well known hotel lobby's (among other places) and sell for thousands of dollars.
The point of all this is I like art. I notice when you say you like art, and one of my fundamental reasons for being on SG is I view it as art. So courtesy of my 'Favorite Artists' list, I wanted to share some stuff I like.
The Intoxicated Man by Alberto Magnelli.
