Cynthia: "Do you remember the time we had sex on that futon you used to have?"
Me: "Oh, when we broke it? Yeah, that was funny."
Cynthia: "Yeah. I met some guy the other night who had a futon. We had sex on it and all I could think of was your futon."
Me: "Did you guys break it?"
Cynthia: "No, but I kind of...

I picked up all my books today. I love how my algebra textbook has a picture of a beer bottle cap on the cover. Inside the bottle cap, in big capital letters, is the author's name: BLITZER. On the back of the book is a picture of a stack of bottle caps. Is this some kind of subliminal message?

I'm thinking about changing my major.

Instead of slogging through four years of school to get a useless English degree and only slightly better job prospects than I'd have otherwise, I'm thinking about doing an Associate's degree in either Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiation Therapy. In Tampa, the average salary for either career is about $65,000 a year.

I'd...

Sounds like a smart move. I didn't finish my degree but originally intended to go with English. In retrospect (or in the future) I know education would be my best bet. Now (unlike 10 years ago) I can't get back into autism education without some degree, even as a teacher's aide.

I finished Stephen King's "The Stand" a few days ago. It's been nearly fifteen years since I last read it, and I remember being distinctly disappointed the first time around. I've spent all these years wondering why people consider "The Stand" his best work. Maybe it wasn't horror enough for me--even now, I wouldn't classify it as horror. (It's...

"Cemetery Gates" or "Mouth for War"? I can't decide which of these would be my favorite Pantera song. Tonight, I'm going with "Mouth for War."

I get a kick out of the video, especially when Phil is contorting face like he's taking the biggest shit of his life.

Too bad his voice has gone to hell. I must be the only person...

The interview didn't go all that well. In fact, the interviewer didn't even show up for our scheduled meeting. He later emailed me, about a half-hour after the scheduled time, asking me to call him back, and when I left him a voicemail, he didn't even return my call. I'm not terribly upset, because I loved driving an hour each way...

Maybe that's just a sign you didn't want that job anyway. They don't seem like responsible employers.
As far as your conclusions go on the relationship... Both is probably the answer smile

I wasn't clear in the post; I was going for an internship (unpaid, as they all are) with a publisher. Not that an internship is required for my degree. I just wanted the experience and a reference.

On Thursday, I have an internship interview with a major publishing company. This would be perfect, since I want to work in publishing after graduation.

Wish me luck!

I don't remember your name, but I'll never forget when I first saw you: sophomore year. You were reading Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales" while waiting for Spanish class to start. You're still one of the sexiest girls I've ever seen.

So the girlfriend and I broke up last night.

And I am not the least bit upset by it.

It makes me intensely happy. It's like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders. I almost want to hug her and say, "Thank you!" I was unhappy for a long time. She was very controlling and almost impossible to talk with...

I'm planning on flying to Colorado in August, to see some friends. It should be a lot of fun--KMFDM will be in town, and while I'm no longer a big fan of the group, I love going to concerts. I haven't seen my friends in years.

I'll likely go back in late October, too. That's when Opeth swings into Denver...

Shit, I haven't been to CO since the 90's. It's fucking beautiful though.

I hope you had a good Fourth of July.

I passed the evening at work, reading "King Lear."

That's not a bad way to get paid.

The summer term is over.

And I managed to cling to my 4.0 GPA.

Next semester, I'll be taking World Literature to 1650, Public Speaking, Inter Algebra, and General Psychology.

The psych class is four weekends long. That's it. Four weekends for an entire semester's worth of psych. It'll be brutal.

Too bad I can't just get credit for...
