i was going to write a big long blog describing everything that's going on...but i decided instead to write a fluff blog...piss off if ya don't like it.

now, as my friends know, i am obsessed with pro-wrestling theme music. people often ask me what my favorite themes are...so here's a list of my 25 favorite themes (in no particular order), and why i love them...
1) Tool Cool/Rikishi/The Zoo Crew (Bangin' It)-high energy, loud, and fun...it was perfect for scotty 2 hotty and his various tag team partners. it was a great song to get the crowd on their feet, which is exactly what scotty's job was...not to win titles or be a serious competitor, but to get the fans charged up and help them enjoy the event.

2) Chris Benoit (Whatever-Our Lady Peace)-methodical, brooding, with moments of explosive emotion...nothing could have been more fitting to herald the rabid wolverine's entrance to the arena.

3) D-Generation X (The Kings-Run DMC)-using d-x's original theme as a template, this was a beefier, cockier theme for the group...and far too short-lived, in my opinion. it really showcased how triple h and his crew were running the show.

4) APA (APA Theme)-just hard driving and furious...you knew that two badass men were on their way down the aisle.

5) Christian (Just Close Your Eyes (WWE Edit)-Waterproof Blonde)-i know a lot of people like the new version better, but something about the female vocals just suited christian better...he's not a power wrestler, but graceful and deceptively fast. i though this slower, more haunting version of the song suited him.

6) Victoria (All the Things She Said (WWE Edit)-t.A.T.u.)-this edit of the song was perfect...the added sound effects and rearranging of the vocals gave it a sinister, psychotic edge.

7) X-Factor (What'chu Lookin' At? (WWE Edit)-Uncle Kracker)-x-pac knew everyone hated him (which i still don't understand)...and he was fine with that. this time perfectly described it...he knew you hated him because of what he had...and he didn't care.

8) Steve Blackman (Drums in the Night)- a high velocity theme that really fit blackman's explosive and precise style...if only his personality had been half as explosive...

9) Doink the Clown (Nightmare Clown)-caulrophobic? have fun with this theme...a carnival romp turned funeral dirge...complete with a psychotic clown laugh.

10) The Undertaker (Rollin' (WWE Edit)-Limp Bizkit)-i will never like limp bizkit as a group...but this song was perfect. loud, garish, and brutal...it perfectly suited the undertaker in his american badass person.

11) Hakushi (Angel)-haunting, melodic and beautiful. if this theme was done with an orchestra, rather than a synthesizer, it would be perfectly at home in a samurai epic.

12) Jake "The Snake" Roberts (Trust Me)-Jake's heel theme...so john carpenter-esque, i'm half espected to see snake plissken coming down the aisle...perfect for an 80s/90s villain...

13) Stone Cold Steve Austin (I Won't Do What You Tell Me)-so simple, so repetitive...but so perfect. it was no nonsense and aggressive...unrelenting. just like austin. like the man said..."when you hear the glass, it's your ass!"

14) The Rock (If You Smell...)- the rock had many themes...small variations of the same basic song. but this version, with the guitar solos...it was so rock star, which is exactly what the great one was...the biggest rock star in the business.

15) Hulk Hogan (Hogan's Theme)-yes..."real american" is the song we grew up...it's the signature hulk theme (even though it was used before him by the us express). but this song, eventually used for "hulk hogan's rock n' wrestling," is so cool (in an ultimate 80s way). the opening piano riff, with the building guitar riffs...it sounds like the kind of music a dominant wrestler like the hulkster should have been coming to the ring with...

16) Legion of Doom (What a Rush)-"iron man" was the theme the road warriors typically used. but truthfully...i think this suited them better. when that first "oh, what a rush!" would echo through the arena, followed by that bended chord...well, you saw what "road warrior pop" meant.

17) Macho Man Randy Savage (Pomp & Circumstance)-sure, gorgeous george used it first...but randy made it immortal (in the wrestling world). i can never hear this song without envisioning the macho man coming down the aisle, and being tempted to imitate him. makes high school graduations awkward to attend...

18) Sting (A Man Called Sting)-this version, with the monologue...so good the wwe ripped off the idea for the undertaker's judgement day return. when the undertaker copies you...that's high praise!

19) Billy Kidman (You Can Run)-how did a 7th stringer like billy kidman end up with such a badass theme? understand...i know he had all the potential, but let's face it...he was a curtain jerker his whole wwe tenure, but somehow got a great theme.

20) The Miz (I Came to Play)-years ago, i predicted that the miz would be huge. he had the talent, he had the drive...he just needed to ditch the terrible outfit he was wearing. a change to a badass theme and some tights later...he's one of the top stars in wrestling. more people should listen to me...

21) Kurt Angle (I Don't Suck)-using his old theme "medal" as a basis (which was actually the patriot's old theme), they add the heavy guitar riffs to this version...it retained the olympic feel of his theme, but gave it the edge needed to showcase just what a top dog angle had become.

22) Demolition (Demolition Daze)-one of the first times that a wrestling theme was spefically tailored to the person or persons using it. so often it was interchangeable...even the songs with lyrics were ambiguous enough that multiple people could use it. not this...if you weren't ax or smash, you were shit out of luck!

23) John Cena (My Time is Now)-it's a little dated now, sure. but when he first started using it, it was so perfect..."your time is up, my time is now!" the cena era had officially begun. love him or hate him, you can't deny that he's been the top dog for a solid 7 or 8 years now...and his theme still has a "big event" feel to it.

24) Ric Flair (Thus Spake Zarathustra)-only one wrestler was ever epic enough for this kind of fanfare...and i question if anyone will ever top him. space mountain, baby...

25) Edge (Metalingus (WWE Edit)-Alterbridge)-this might just be my favorite theme ever. it has edge's classic "you think you know me" to catch your attention, a crazy heavy riff, and then an epic-feeling theme. not so good for a heel...but perfect for a top face to come down the aisle to.

don't like my list? did i skip your favorite theme? then make your own damn list, junior!
