Last few months of 2013: Let's see here...
-Got laid off from my production assistant job in L.A., other prospects were low and before I knew it, landed myself in so much financial trouble I ended up sleeping in my car for almost 2 months (fyi, 24hr fitness' inexpensive memberships do come in like gangbusters for showers, when, you know, you got gas in the tank).
2014:
-That is, until the Navy came through for me big time. Although I was working in the Navy Reserve, money there ain't so great. So I went to them one day and asked if they could help me. After mountains of paperwork and meetings, I finally g0t accepted back into active duty and not a moment too soon. Still grateful to this day. But the catch being...
-I would find myself working in Japan of all places. Almost 3 years here now and still, without question, one of the greatest experiences I've ever had living anywhere. Some of the most honorable, respectful, and admirable people I've ever encountered, the best seafood, friendliest customer service, and fastest wifi in the world. Still amazed by this country every time I'm here. When, ya know, I'm not out to sea on deployments of course. Beware, this blog is quite picture heavy, so without further ado, here we go!
2014:
Delicious, but a gastric exorcism in a can, I shit you not. Pun not intended, either. :D
Some views throughout Kama Kura and where The Big Buddha was.
Me trying on coveralls for the first time, my favorite uniform of choice at work.
My old knucklehead of a buddy, Softy, blowing up condoms and walking around downtown Busan, South Korea like it's no big deal...
Some more of Busan...
Even had the pleasure of partying with @scari quite a few times; just an awesome, wonderful person. Introduced me to my first real chuhi (a devilish mix of Japanese grain alcohol and arguably the sweetest fruit kool-aid you'll ever have in your life)...I believe after my 2nd one of the night I passed out so hard on her couch I broke it. I offered to replace it but she assured me it was old as balls and not worth it. Still partied a few times after that before she moved back to the States.
Some shots of Guam, damn I miss being that thin:
Quick shot of Guam just as we left...
Ahhh yes, my General Quarters garb. This is where we get into masks, suits, and various firefighting gear for training on possible fires and attacks to the ship.
More Japan randomness...
Yes, THIS IS A THING. And it's oh so good.
From my 30th Birthday; my family crest. A mix of Irish and German, still the best tattoo I have to this day.
And that wraps it up for 2014, 2 more to go!
