I walked into the bead store on Valencia street, to meet up with Harvey. I stood in the doorway, got a few stares (which is usual when I dress like I was dressed then.) and looked all around for my former roommate.
I couldn't see her right away (maybe because she was right in front of me) but probably mostly becase she wasn't dressed in the usual Harvey gear. Either way, she turned around and started talking to me as though nothing was odd. She didn't even mention it until a few minutes into our conversation.
I love this about San Francisco, any other city I probably would've been kicked out of a store for being dressed as I was. Instead, the girl at the counter, apparently a friend of Harvey's, was excited and enjoying it all. She helped Harvey pick out some beads and clasps to make some bracelets, and Harvey went over to the table to work on them. I was going to hang out wth her for a bit, but it's hard to sit at a little table when you're in stilts. Plus it was hot and my full clown makeup was starting to run into my big red nose.
Ahh random clowns in the Mission. I love walking around and getting the huge smiles and waves and happiness I ilicit from kids... and adults. It makes me very very happy.
