When I got back from DEMF, Harvey, my roommate, the other clown, said she was going to move out come the first. Now, I love Harvey to death, but sometimes she's really hard to get along with, and even when that's going on, I can still be nice to her and whatever and just let it blow over. So although I was kind of upset that she was leaving, I was also sort of happy because I would have the opportunity to try and find people who wouldn't grate on eachother too too much.
Then also here comes the clown conservatory. I move accross the country for it, and when I first got here, Harvey despised the place. But I got her to go to some of the shows and all of a sudden, like in an hour, 180 degree flip. She wants to go, she wants to audition and everything. Right away I'm sorta ehhh... can we work together at this school? Harvey and I have completely different approaches to clowning, she's a theatre person, an actress and playwright, comes at clowning through 'relationship with the audience' and all sorts of other theatre things, and I come at it from being a goofball and physical performer. So although she gets upset when people say the way she comes to clowning isn't the "proper way"... she still almost argues that anyone who doesnt come to it her way isn't doing it right.
I guess what I'm saying is that it'd be very very tough for the two of us to get along while both going to the clown school, and when she said she was moving out, then it seemed like it would all br okay.. because my experience that's supposed to be one of the greatest points of my life.. would all be okay.
And oh, I understand that a whole lot of this is me just getting over it..
But so then Harvey says taht she's probably not moving out. After a whole lot of things have been set in motion that just kind of fuck me over too.. people coming to look at moving into Harvey's room.. my friend Heather who just moved in from Detroit who was going to move in, was just my saying 'yeah move in' now Harvey has to be allright with it too.. just.. relly complicates things.
And so tonight she says "Do you think we can do that? Both doing this really intese program together?" and she really wanted an answer.. so I thought it was time to bring up my concerns, and she'd bring up hers, and we'd understand and we'd talk and everything would be okay, but instead when I brought up my concerns, she flipped out and got all pouty and ran away to her room.. which is definately not the open discussion we needed to make sure everything's going to work out. And I have a witness, Heather came here today, and she says I didn't bring it up in any sort of aggressive or offensive manner.. grrrrrRR!
I know, that's only like 40% of the story.. but just grr.
