They say "you can never go home again." At least that's how I felt six years ago, the last time I was home on Long Island.
Flying remains a nauseating experience for me. I opted to ignore the obnoxious lady sitting next to me by sleeping and listening to my IPod. It didn't help that all the other folks on the flight had their direct TV monitiors working--mine was the only one broken.
Mum and Dad picked us up in their wonderful new gas-guzzler. Forty-five minutes later, I found myself in the confines of the house I grew up in. Twenty minutes after that, I raided the attic looking for any mementos I'd left since I'd moved out fifteen years earlier. Didn't find too much sadly. Oh yeah, my sophomore yearbook . . . woo.
Later, we're traipsing to the city to catch a matinee of the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. Then Korea-Town and meeting up with my bro and his gal.
I'd be more excited if it wasn't so damned early and if it wasn't freezing out and raining. Ugh.

ah, staying at home. i live three miles from my parents. i'm not sure which of those two is more awkward!
