You know, I really think my situation is probably considerably less painful than yours, despite whatever anyone might think about the perception that divorce is more painful than a girlfriend/boyfriend breakup. Wendi and I didn't split because either one of us was disrespecting or using the other one, just because it became impossible to ignore the fact that we wanted to do different things in our lives that would keep us far apart from each other, both philosophically and physically. The only thing that's hard about it is remembering the fun we had before we each had our philosophical shifts, and the loneliness that comes from being alone. The only times I get sad and wistful are when I'm alone at night (since I keep myself pretty busy during the day), and when I have a craving to just hug and kiss someone, and curl up and cuddle.

So trust me, whatever I'm going through, I'm sure it's easier than what you're dealing with, because I've been through that too. The only thing I can suggest is to look at this as your chance to not have to support anyone else, especially if he was getting in the way of you achieving your own goals...which I know sounds pretty trite, but really, it's true.

Good luck. I hope you can figure your way through it and come out an even stronger, more confident person because of the experience.

And thank you so much for your support with my situation. The thing that sucks most about a divorce is that it takes so long to get it done with, which makes it hard to move on (at least officially).
