We Can Never Go Back: (The I Dont Want To Fuck You Hypothesis)
This is a story of boy meets girl.
Anton Bergh grew up believing he would never be happy until he met The One. This stemmed from a childhood full of pop music with undertones of misery, syndicated american sitcoms, and the abandonment he felt every time he suffered the loss of a pet or loved one.
Cobie Thatcher did not share this belief. She had only ever loved two things in her life. The first was her peach striped dog Boltsy, and the second was foreign film. The both went hand in hand as she happily spent most nights watching Spanish cinema with her canine companion.
Anton meets Cobie on August 8th in park at midnight.
They share wine & stories of loss.
This is a story of boy meets girl, but it is not a love story.
The first words out of Cobies mouth are not what he is expecting. Anton is met with surprise but an overwhelming sense of relief when he hears these six simple words -
I Dont Want To Fuck You
It were as if he had just taken off his glasses to find they had not been cleaned in several months, or just like wiping the fog from the bathroom mirror. While he found Cobie to be a somewhat near-perfect companion, he had, for the first time in his life, realised he need not apply labels and romantic connotations to simply every girl he met.
While those words may have sounded incredibly rude coming from anyone else or a different perspective, they seemed to make sense coming from Cobies lips. It were as if everything were falling into place.
Anton understood that he had met The girl, but what she was and who she was to mean to him in the coming years were to move beyond and above any small-minded conecpt of romance. It was greater than that.
On August 8th at midnight, Boy Meets Girl.
On August 8th at 12:05 Anton has found his best friend.
