Hey guys, how are you?
So, I was taking a look at some of the bloghomework topics when I came across this one and I realized how important it is to remind ourselves about empathy. We're going through some rough with the quarantine, and I see that, at least here in Brazil, most of our suffering it's because people can only think about themselves... That's why I decided to bring here some of the things I've been trying to do to help others, because I'm not the only one going through this.
Donating money to help rescued animals!
I've been saving at least R$100 every month to donate, but if I could I would even take more pets. There are hundreds of them living on the streets, and since people are on lockdown, the probability of them being taken care off is even smaller... That's why I think at this time it's super important for us to support the ones who are still willing to help those in need like animal protectors.
Going to the drug store/supermarket for the elderly!
I was thinking about how hard it was for me to go out of my house even just to buy some food, because I was feeling so anxious! That's when I thought about the elderly: if I was feeling like this and I'm 23 years old, what about them? They must be frightened! So I did a sign with the help of my mother and put it on the elevator, giving them my number and offering myself to buy them food or medication whenever they need :)
Check on your friends!
You can't go around the city checking on your friends, but at this time we must send love to them somehow. That's why it's a big part of my days to talk to my friends, and to be available to support even from a distance.
Support small business!
We must worry about small business and self-employed workers, because they're suffering a lot economically. If you can, buy food from small markets, spread the word about their work, help financially, or even (if possible) keep hiring independent contractors to do their job remotely.
Use your mask! Keep safe!
And, of course, don't forget that using your mask, sanitizing your hands and keeping yourself safe is also a gesture of empathy. We must go through this together!
That's it! Hope you guys are okay! See ya 🖤
xoxo
