Two holes are better than one.
This next weekend is looking really good. We're getting drunk in celebration of Wil's 21st on Friday. Saturday we're having a house party (e-mail me if you want directions). Sunday is Easter, so there will naturally be kegs hidden in the woods (don't worry, they're not tthat hard to find). I really hope I don't have anything difficult to do at work on Monday.
Here's the invite for our party:
On a more cerebral note, I was just wondering: Is the U.S. dollar still on the gold standard? Does it even matter? What percent of our GDP is entirely imaginary, made up of Electronic Fund Transfers? Is money now, or will it soon be, an intangible idea? I don't think coins and bills make it any more tangible, considering the physical money is worthless. At this point, there has to be more "money" in the world than there is precious metal (or whatever is any country's standard) to back it up.
People live or die; grow fat with luxurious excess or sink into despair, living on the streets, begging for an opportunity to survive another day; all based on an idea, once concrete, now an abstract concept. I guess I won't complain, because I know how to play the game, but this definitely brings me back to the fond idea of living on an island with a small group of friends, and never having to deal with people who take the game too seriously.
I probably sound like some sort of crazy revolutionary or something, but I'm definitely too lazy to bother with such things. We only have one life to live, and while it would be nice if everyone could get along, and there was an end to suffering in sight; and while I admire those that are able to sacrifice their own happiness toward this end, I think I'm just going to enjoy my life, make a difference where I see I can, and try not to get too worked up about the idiocy surrounding us on a daily basis.
THE END.
