Convention was a nightmare.. it seems it brought out the ugly in people. Crowds of smelly, energy drinking, no concept of personal space basement dwellers. Please dont get me wrong, there were plenty of wonderful Anime and anything Japanese fans.. but the over abundance of above mentioned was mind blowing. I payed a lot of money and traveled almost 200 miles to experience this phenomenon in person. Unfortunately, i will never do it again. Such a long list of bad experiences was enough to sour the whole experience for me and my friend. It makes me sad because I was really looking forward to going for months. Oh well, Sci fi conventions seem to be a better age group and class of people. Don't meant o offend anyone, but I'm so put off, I cant help but speak my mind. Oh, and this was my 4th convention.. but the difference was that I actually traveled to this one and stayed at the hotel that was hosting the event because it was a larger venue then I was used to. The guests of the hotel that were not there for the convention were unbelievably rude and frustrated by the whole thing. I even almost got into a fist fight with another guest over the elevator! This was the end of the day so I was tired, sick and just wanted to go shower the hentai off of me. The woman made the mistake of making a snotty comment to me and I lost it. Oh well, chalk all of this up as experience. Sometimes bigger and supposedly better are just not worth it. Ill stick with my Nerdy Sci Fi conventions from now on.
