Hope everyone had a nice holiday!
I spent mine wrenching on Helga. Got her with a nice sized hole in the top of the rear seat among other things. Then wouldn't you know it but the guy I traded for her hit me up about a listing up in B.C. for a replacement! Figured it was a good time to take her for a real spin anyway so I gutted the back, vacuumed the shit out of everything and planned a run for the border to see what I could come up on...
...however once I got everything out I realized that the overdrive switch was bad and that ain't good seeing as how it pretty much acts as a fifth gear and I would be seeing a lot of freeway soon. So I did what I had to do and tinkered in a bypass cable to a new switch. It refused to thread back through the original opening in the stick shift so I decided the best I could do was to just wrap it in some flex conduit and call it a day. The result kinda added a little cyborg character to it that's growing on me.
So with that all squared away I mosied on up North to get my baby some new furniture.
Without much delay I had a new back seat and totally scored some bonus side panels that were in way better shape than the ones I had!
So by the time I made it back to the hood it became clear that some of the speakers were blown as I had ample time to fuss with the stereo along the way. Of course that just wouldn't do so I hit up the Best Buy and got the dude to sell me some from off the display wall for hella cheap. My luck had it that they were doing a half off the clearance price of open box items! :). Shit sounds dope now and was the best $30 for a pair of nice 4" as well as a pair of nice 6.5" speaks I ever spent!
Last thing to do was call over some peeps for some drinks and smokage and bust out the cleaning supplies for a quick pre-install detail job.
Now she's all buttoned up and ready to roll for a new windshield next weekend!
More updates to follow... :D
