Day Three. Today was the second mission. The job was an escort mission. It all went to hell.
One of our human allies turned to the zombie side and set us up. All of the zombies knew where we were to meet up and were already set up all along the route. The number are even and the thing about zombies is that every kill gives them another to their horde, while we simply lose numbers. We had no chance. Our group moved phalanx across campus brilliantly, about 20 of us. We held off thirty or so zombies that continually rushed us, coming back every time we thought they were dead. Wave after wave we held. Then unavoidably, the humans broke and scattered. I tried to call them back but nothing would work.
So we ran into the nearest building to recover. The flaw that killed us was ego. Our phalanx split when a group decided to rush the building directly while the other snuck around. Well, I'm one to go where my help is needed, so I joined the suicide mission for the target and held the rear. Waves attacked from the rear and me with my six shooter and a man (or walking arsenal, I'm not sure) held it solidly while our group advanced through the horde. Sadly, the back means that you can't see where you're being led. Before we knew it, we were backed up on high ground with absolutely no escape. 7 humans at the top of a hill with over 40 zombies waiting for us at the bottom.
They panicked again. Five of the humans scattered the area, ran around, yelled, began to fight. The zombies took advantage and rushed. The Human Arsenal and I held as best we could, but the first rush took him. I was left alone with my six shooter against the horde. Slowly, the zombies formed up and came a second time. By aim proved true again. The first wave was five zombies for six shots. This time I was only partially reloaded and took four for four. Me, with my six shooter, took the small rush. The rest panicked and fired ineffectively around the area. The zombies retreated and rethought their strategy.
I could see the fear, see them contemplating. I heard one ask how many shots I had as they stared up at me. And minutes later they came to the conclusion I'd had since we ended up there: No matter what the humans did, we'd lose. They gathered up and charged once more. Four for four, but against fourty zombies a six shooter can't hold ground. They got us and now we're a part of the horde.
A FAILURE FOR HUMANITY! A VICTORY FOR MY NEW ZOMBIE BROTHERHOOD! WITH AN UNSTOPPABLE HORDE NOW OUTNUMBERING THE HUMANS, WE WILL EAT THEM ALL AND TAKE THEIR BRAINS, NO MATTER THE REINFORCEMENTS THEY BRING!
