I was just physically ill which is to say I threw up.
I made the mistake of watching the body cam footage of a police officer brutalizing a 5'0 80lb elderly woman with dementia because Walmart employees wouldn't let her pay for $14.00 worth of merchandise she accidently walked out of the store with. They took the stuff back and she left. Then this monster in uniform stopped her as she was walking home.
Screw it, the baby can go out with the bath water at this point. Policing in America needs to be gutted and rebuilt from the ground up - it's rotten to the core. We need police officers who aren't afraid of cell phones or toy guns held by African Americans, by soldiers with temporary license plates, or little old ladies. We need police departments who report the truth before the video is released. We need police unions who understand the sacred privilege that their members are allowed to perform and never place the officer above the awesome responsibility entrusted to them. We need politicians and media outlets to hold police accountable to people and not property.
I don't care if there are good cops, if they're not stopping the bad ones because they fear the repercussions then they're not good cops.

oh please š I didn't see anything on the news (I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina) here you see a lot of cases of police brutality, unfortunately it's really disgusting and unfair

Thanks for this post, I think awareness is important and society has to know, what's going on! I'm also sorry for the old woman...
