Accepted Ignorance:
A look at the stupidity that plagues this nation and questions, why do we accept it
Episode 1
Breast Feeding
So there I was scrolling through social media and I begin to notice something. Apparently there is an uproar umongst the people. An injustice has been done. Fist are being raised and words are being shouted. Mind you, most of these words are filled with incoherent ramblings of uneducated egotistical attention seeking members of this society with a skewed view of reality. These voices are all in a tizzy due to mothers breastfeeding their children in public. Oh no, some one sound the alarm. Tits are being exposed. Before you get all worked up over an "exposed" breast, let's take a moment and think about this logicly. The excuse used for being upset at the site of a woman breastfeeding is two parts. Breast are a sexual body part and should be covered and "eew, that's disgusting". Let us address the former to start. This part requires you have the mental capability to work google. If not, then you are far beyond my help. So go on, head over to google. Now search for Beyonce at the 2015 Met Gala. Next search for Candace Swanepoel 2014 vs fashion. Amber rose 2014 MTV awards. Rihanna at the CDFA awards. Or Myley Cyrus at almost any of her live appearances or performances on National Television. Feel free to continue along this track and you will uncover numerous accounts of celebrities in the public light walking around with enough skin exposed to question whether or not you have stumbled across some x-rated adult expo. This has become common place yet a mother that has a single breast partly exposed while feeding her child is considered wrong. If you feel this way your view on reality is seriously warped. Also, the breast is not a sex organ. Let me repeat that. The breast IS NOT a sexual organ. Yes, the breast is a beautiful thing. Soft and perky. I myself can't help but become a little flustered at the site of a bare breast. Why is this? Simply because we have programed ourselves that way. Here's the thing however, thinking something is sexual or being aroused by something doesn't inherently define said thing as a sex organ or "private part". For many years, a woman exposing her ankles was looked at as indecent. Then it became indecent to expose the knee. Even in today's world there are men and women aroused by feet. Does this mean we should all wear socks at all times because in the eyes of some a toe is sexy? No, that would simply be ridiculous. There is no sexual function of a breast that absolutely defines it as an indecent region of the body. Now let us address the response that just saddens me to the core. "Eew, that's disgusting". Why? Why is it disgusting? Explain? Is it disgusting for you to eat at a restaurant in front of numerous strangers? Is it disgusting for you to chug that coffee each morning as you stumble into work? No, then why is it disgusting for a baby to feed in a public place? If the baby was knocking back a bottle you wouldn't say a word. Then there is no reason to be disgusted by a baby breastfeeding. It is the same thing. We are biologically designed to feed from the breast of our mothers who are biologically designed to produce and to provide food for us at that age. It is pure, it is natural, it is normal.
Now for some much needed truth. If you are against the right of a mother to breastfeed where ever she may be, you are one of the many things wrong with this nation. Your view on reality is so skewed and twisted it is a wonder you are able to wipe your own ass. Stop looking at the world through a screen. Walk outside and open your eyes for a change. You might be amazed at what you see. The world isn't what they make it on tv. Stop agreeing with the person before you and learn to gather your own information to make up your own mind. We have been taught to think a certain way. It takes effort to change that. Don't be the problem. Be part of the solution. This is a free world. Stop going out of your way just to bother someone else. If you are still bent on living your life with a skewed view of the world fine. That is your choice. But don't you dare use your beliefs to attack another human being. If you don't like what someone else is doing then turn and go the other way. It is not your life and you have no right to tell them how to live theirs.
I applaud any and all mothers with the courage to do what is natural and I respect you for making the choice to live your life despite what other members of this society think. I encourage all mothers to join together, take a stand, wip out that breast and be proud to feed your child. I also encourage you to relieve the pressure of your swollen and sore breast anytime someone decides to address you in a negative way about your breastfeeding by taking a firm grip around the nipple region, giving a good hard squeeze, and spraying that ignorant moron in the face. That should shut them up pretty quick.
This cuncludes today's rant. Hope you have a most lovely and ignorance free day.
