I went a wedding yesterday at home up north. I had forotten how beautiful it is up there, and how good it smells, and how lucky I am to still reap the benefits from that which my parents have made. It makes me want to see the sun shine sometimes, and to think hard. It makes me able to find my peripheral vision. The ceremony had a Nick Cave cover on electric guitar, and the Coffin Daggers played at the reception. I sat by myself while my childhood friends caught up. Eventually a few of them joined me. I drank too much too early and then felt cold. I turned down the jacket Tom offered so that Avril could wear it, as this was certainly not a day for melancholy or morose serenity. I palmed away nosebleeds and red eyes and scars and then said my goodbyes. As my parents and I left, we looked up at the stars while walking the white-light tightrope that led up the hill to the camp and the main parking lot.
