These pictures are mostly from the Yaak, Glacier National Park, the Lochsa River, Lake Kookanusa, and the Rocky Mountain Front. This was last year from April-May, I was having a rough time adjusting so I took these really long road trips across the state and into Idaho finding places to get lost. On one trip going to the Yaak I picked up two french girls who had come in from Canada to wander around the US. I was pretty worried about them because I picked them up on one of the roughest Indian Reservations in the state and they had no phone or method of self defense and were barely 18. Crazy chicks on an awesome adventure. I hope things worked out for them. I was looking for grizzlies on that trip, or any cool creatures for that matter, but couldn't even find a trace of one. Hopefully this year I will get a glimpse and maybe a photo or two, elusive and majestic creatures.
These are from my trip accross the state for my friend's mom's funeral. That's the cabin we stayed in overnight. There was practically no snow the day before, quite the wake up! I also had a couple of days before I needed to get back to work so I did a big loop stopping at my old ski hill to slay some fresh powder then visit my family in another part of the state (all the sunset pics).
I got bored and started looking through some of the random pictures I took of being on my fire lookout and hiking around, figured I would share some of the magnificence that I have seen. Hopefully soon I will be able to get a real camera that can better capture the things I see. All of these are taken on my phone so I apologize for the grainy and badly focused photos, still some gems in there though.
Fun in the sun back in 2009, I think....might have been 2010. The small patches of sobriety are sort of hard to put a time and date on.
Photos from several years ago living along the Yellowstone River outside of Big Timber, MT. Foothills country is pretty rough but there is always beauty tucked away somewhere.
Deployment number two
Cruising along the St. Joe River in Idaho in December. I need a real camera, these camera phones just don't do it justice.
