i just read a whole bunch of stuff about machine intelligence, nanotech, the transhuman movement, and a number of other vaguely scary/hopeful things. i don't understand it any better, mostly because the real meat of it is in the ethics at this stage (and i am no philosopher in the classical sense), but i did succeed in giving myself a big headache and i learned what a jupiter brain is.
i think i am going to go watch cartoons while listening to phiiliip. phiilliip is good; he writes songs called things like christ the manatee, digital hellhounds, and space gods.
i don't know what movement we're in these days, but he's very post-movement. being post-movement is sort of hard to pull off. it's like combing your hair in a really cracked mirror. it's filled with lots of little images of your head, each a bit distorted, a bug's eye. if you manage to get your hair right, it's not reallystraight aesthetic sense. it's more of the aesthetics of saying "fuck you" to aesthetic sense.
ok. cartoons.
