It is SO good to be working again. I know I'll be eating those words in less than a week, but right now it's just great not to be so idle.
My new job is mundane enough to not really warrant any commentary whatsoever. It is so similar to stuff that I've done before that I didn't have to be trained.
I signed up for a month's worth of gym access yesterday to try it out. The idea of being able to work out indoors with equipment is about as luxurious as it gets for me. I tried to run outside all winter last year and it worked prettty well (I was jogging 40 minutes a day, 5 or 6 days a week), but it's much harder now that I'm not trying to avoid anyone at home. Apparently, my main motivation was just getting out of the house at the time, but I didn't realize that until MUCH later. ANYWAY, I went to the gym last night because I always have to try new stuff out RIGHT THEN and this is the first morning my back has not been sore in...oh, at least three months. Possibly six. Life is good.
Hey, guess who's coming to Calgary? Well, OK, so you probably won't be able to guess. I'll just have to tell you it's Phillip Glass! They're showing Koyaanisqatsi on a big screen at the Jack Singer while Phillip Glass conducts his orchesta playing the soundtrack. How cool is that? I'm just so glad they're doing Koyaanisqatsi instead of Naquoiqaatsi, which is a little too Clockwork Orange for me. I've avoided ever seeing the whole thing because I know that wouldn't sleep for months and would have to invest in a quality nightlight and teddy bear. Very few things on film have ever scared the shit out of my so thoroughly and efficiently.
