The newest addition to the family. H.P. Lovecraft by the inimitable Bob Tyrrell (Night Gallery in Detroit). This man is extraordinarily gifted. I have seen his work in magazines for years and never thought I would get the opportunity to get tattooed by him. Well he came through and offered to tattoo me when I met him at the Toronto Tattoo convention, turns out we have a mutual admiration for eachother's work.
So I drove down to Detroit on Friday, I spent the day becoming beautifully marked, then met up with the rest of the Rue Crew, spent time with The Cramps (wicked show!), then we partied more. You know, perfect day.
I gained a lot because of this this portrait; besides starting a tattoo collection by Bob (whom I've now handed my entire right leg over to). I also discovered how uttery cool the dude is, and I made a lifelong friend in the process.
I'm really proud to have this tattoo.
If you're not famillar with Bob's work, check out the gallery on his webiste, especially if you're a horror fan, it will blow the fuck out of your mind.
