Although many people have them, it is not something that people outwardly display with pride. We often feel complexed by the physical changes our body experiences.
And I include myself because despite being a model I belong to that 10% of people with the condition that most of us have difficulty in gaining muscle mass and we are constantly rising and falling in weight, not to mention that I also have the condition of having polycystic ovaries .
So weight changes, growth of the breasts or widening of the hips, hormonal variations, changes in elasticity and proportion of skin collagen and pregnancies.
All these causes are common and part of the body development in a woman. But the truth is that stretch marks are still subject to stigma (like wrinkles or lack of tonicity on the skin) and it seems that we have to eradicate them from our body.
But why is there the need to 'normalize' something that in a woman is already natural and common?
Whether you are fat, skinny, tall, short, with a lot of hip or little chest you have the right (and all the reasons in the world) to feel good about yourself. Since stretch marks, cellulite, acne, flaccidity; should be no more than descriptive (and not derogatory) terms. We can not allow the complexes to keep us from doing everything we like and make us happy
Personally I have learned to love myself and accept myself over time and my work is the reflection of that, although many times clients or photographers want or stop working with me since I have the profile for the campaign but my tattoos , stretch marks, acne, moles, have to be retouched. I set myself as a rule and respect for myself that whoever wants to work with me will have to accept that sum of perfect "defects" that make me who I am today.
Let's take the natural way and love us a lot. Since love starts with yourself first ❤️
