Vacation Movie Madness!!!!!!
I saw not one, but TWO movies last night.
First, I saw "Thank You For Smoking". This movie was great. The story was great. The dialogue was hilarious when it needed to be and equally dramatic when it was called for (though, much more funny than dramatic). The acting was 99% top of the line with a very minor exception... Katie Holmes. Way to drag the movie down with your weird face and stone dry acting. Luckily, she's only in the movie a little bit, despite being cause for a major turning point. I don't smoke, but man, Aaron Eckhart made me want to. His character Nick Naylor is the kind of guy that guys want to be, and Eckhart played him perfectly. Maria Bello was smoking as one of Naylor's best friends, and David Koechner was hilarious as his other best friend. The soundtrack was good. The editing was good (as far as my very limited experience in editing can tell). I'll deffinitely be catching this one again on DVD.
Now, before I review my second movie, some of you may think. "Josh, didn't you just lambaste a former friend for his pedophilia?" Yes, yes I did. However, everyone in "Stick It' is over 18, so it's ok. Plus, any torment you may give me will not compare to having to be the only guy in the middle of a group of about 30 girls. Now for a review.
Holy hell, this movie is fantastic. First off, from second one, the soundtrack is phenominal. The story is a bit cliched, but it's totally forgivable because the whole thing is played out in leotards. The acting was good. There was plenty of good jokes, though I'm sad that they sunk to fart humor in a couple parts. It's from the lady who wrote and directed Bring It On, so the direction was good too. I was sad there was no dance number at the end like Bring It On and Bring It On Again (er... not that I've seen bring it on again.... don't fucking judge me). But that was forgivable because they spent thw whole movie in leotards. So, acting good, story ok, jokes good, direction good, editing good... I'll be seeing this one again on DVD too. LEOTARDS!
After that I went to Dennys and had french toast. It was good. I have nothing to do tonight. I am probably going to Foxwoods during the day with my brother tomorrow, but have Friday night free. Saturday is free too as my friend Brian has something to do, if I remember correctly. So like I've been saying. Face time with the Big J is still available. Please don't let me go see Art School Confidential and The Davinci Code alone.
That's it.
