Greetings from Changi airport. Changi has the distinction of being one of the most beloved airports in the world. It boasts a water park, butterfly garden, cinema, and many other amusements and diversions. It really is the airport thats got it all. Although if you ask me it could use an opium den and a strip club to round it all out. I am waiting for a plane to take me back to Bali. The past month was spent island hopping in the southern gulf of Thailand. One thing that is so striking about the islands in Thailand is their topography. They are very rocky, and boulders the size of houses festoon the shore. Little mountains stand proud and brilliant in green jungle canopy. They truly are gorgeous. But yet more wonders await the curious traveller beneath the waves. I did some great dives in Thailand. Huge swaths of sea floor are covered in Anemones, schools of Damselfish swarm the reefs. The diving is not a good as Indonesia but still awesome. Sigh... I wish I had more time/money to fully explore Thailand, there is so much I have not seen. But alas, it will have to wait for next time. I did get a good couple days in Bangkok however, and although im not too fond of big cities Bangkok really impressed me. Bangkok is a fucking zoo of course, a Byzantine maze of canals and roads. How anyone finds their way around is beyond me. But if you look deeper, beyond the glitzy malls, past the dirty smog choked highways you can find a really charming city, full of character and life.
