Last night I had the strangest dream...
I was at work (side-bar...I told my boss I was dreaming about work, and he said, I might be needing a vacation. I think I agree)...anyway, at work...sitting in the studio. It's like mission control in there. Four computers surround me and a board, phones, CD players...tons of CD's and a TV. Well, the TV is USUALLY set on CNN to keep up to date on what's happening in the world...well, I had the TV set on the cable access channel that airs local events and the sound, is our station. I usually keep the TV on closed captioning so I don't need the noise, however as you can imagine, there's no CC for our on-air show. Thank god.
So, in my dream, I'm talking...reading the news and I look up at the screen and the words are displayed across the top. Amused, I keep glancing from the copy in front of me to the TV screen. Then...straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock film, the closed captioning begins to speed up, and now, instead of it recording what I'm saying, I'm reading what it's saying. I do this for a while before it dawns on me what's happening.
I panic, shut off the mic and look around. Across the hall in the other studio, there's a friend of mine. Typing on a keyboard and waving a sinister wave at me. I smile sweetly before flipping him off, and then immediately laugh at my clever retort.
Next, I'm in a living room. It's like a hotel living room, and I'm sitting there, with my friend, laughing. We're watching something on comedy central, and I'm having trouble seeing because of the intense laughter...
I woke up this morning and my side hurt. I wondered...was I laughing in my sleep? I would like to hope so.
Days of tears, nights of laughter, it's a start.
