Is it possible to not notice the child in the middle of the room throwing a tantrum? If you give them the attention they are seeking, do you validate this type of behavior? If you ignore them, do they eventually stop and move on to something else? Do you try to reason with them? Explain how grown-ups react to similar situations? It's a bizarre phenomenon.
This week has been playing catch up with everything that I put off last week when I was sick. The flu has hit our community, and it's mark is everywhere...from the ghost desk at the hospital to the frantic clerk at the drug store trying to do 3 people's jobs. I gave her an understanding smile as she tried to backtrack and correct her errors. Her eyes appeared grateful for the understanding. Giving understanding doesn't ever cost us anything but effort. It's the proverbial penny in the little dish at the cash register. If you have it to give, then do so, if you need it, just take it, no questions asked. There are givers and takers everywhere. For the most part, we remain socially acceptable, but every once in a while, you run across a rare bird who doesn't understand taking just one. They wait for the cashier to look away and empty the dish. They may not need the few pennies that they get, but they need to take them anyway. They need to take. They will never understand life is a two way street...relationships are a two way street. It's these people who move from situation to situation in their life and are usually left alone and wondering..."what happened?" The truth of the matter is...one can only support a taker for so long...then there's nothing left to give.
I'm just blurting here...it makes sense to me, it seems.
BTW...is it just me, or have the last 2 days sets been STUNNING??...my god.
