Well,
I have spent the last week at my parents house in Orlando. Retirement is such an odd thing... Breakfast, activity, lunch, activity, nap, dinner, movie/activity... Its like camp for old people!
They are nice people, and they love me very much. They have a cable modem, so I have been downloading music like crazy, mostly via SG recommendations, actually. I have come to appreciate my parents more and more. Tonight, my last night here, I had the distinct notion that if they lived closer to me, then we could actually get to know each other a bit better now that I am not in high school anymore.
Won't bore you with the details, except to say that I finished reading House of the Spirits by Isabelle Allende. I heartily recommend it, especially as Venezuela careens towards chaos... the headlines in the paper were eerily parallel to the storyline at times.
I watched the Baz Luhrmann Romeo and Juliet again, as well as LOTR (the first one), My Big Fat Greek Wedding... I ate like a pig, bought a DVD player with my dad, remaining entirely cynical about American consumerism the whole time. I think I know how to ruin a shopping experience for those unfettered by teaming landfills and garages overflowing with crap from last year.
They bought me some luggage! That is rich. We went to a botanical garden and I discovered some killer trees and plants, with spikes and all. Saw an aligator, and followed a cute Irish girl for a few yards.
I spent more time on this here website this week than I think I have since I started back in August.
Aaaaannd, hmmm... I dunno. Lots of doing nothing, really. Kind of nice. Changed my portfolio shot on SG. I think my membership will be running out soon, so I will be gone for a while. BUT, then I will be back, I expect.
I'm thinking of travelling to India, my dad told me he'd pay for me to fly to Europe for six weeks, though i can't imagine he would mind if it turned into six months.
OH, and I went to the driving range and whacked golf balls into the ether for an hour and a half. I fucking love that shit. I recommend it to all, despite the bourgeous overtones of the activity. Even Che played golf, you know...
Peace out. See you soon...
