Hello! This is the first journal entry for this week (hopefully not my last, because many things will happen before the week is over, including Argentina versus Germany and Brazil and the winner of Spain and France)
I had a great week and weekend, including the great Superaquello concert (pics still to come, but very soon!) and hanging out with my dear cousin Esteban who was visiting from Virginia, where he works as a cop, alhought a good cop
We hung out all friday afternoon in Rio Piedras where we visited bookstores (La Tertulia!!) and a music store. I bought another Leonardo Padura's novel titled "Mascaras", a personal copy of Santiago Gamboa's "Los Impostores" and I bought my cousin a copy of Perez Reverte's "La reina del sur". Afterward's we visited a nice small record store where I was surprised to find a small treasure, the latest Panda album!! I have never seen an album by this band in a record store, all the albums I have by them are downloaded copies, hooray!! (By the way, they are kind of an emo/punk band, but with singing in spanish and some nice songwriting
)
During the weekend we went to my other house in Vega Baja for my sis and bro's birthday's (hers was on saturday and my bro's was on monday). I had the day off and we had a bunch of family and friends there to watch the football games and to eat cake and food and just tell anecdotes and jokes!!
By the way, the best game of the World Cup so far was the Argentina vs. Mexico, WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!! I am sad for Mexico, but they should be proud, the played amazingly well, especially after the game against the Dutch, where they performed horribly, especially the Captain, Rafa Marquez, who did a great job on saturday.
Okay, now let's talk about Superaquello's performance:
For starters this is the my first concert where I was nervous during the day in anticipation of it. I was listening to their music all day, remembering the lyrics so that I could sing along during the concert!! Well, Inocencia picked me up at around 7 pm and we reached the Taller CE at 7:30 pm and there where a bunch of people already. We met Ana, a very dear friend and also a big fan of Superaquello, especially their frontman, Eduardo Alegria (who is a great frontman, he has an awesome presence, looked very desirable and I know for a fact that both men and women WANT HIM BAD!). Before the beginning of the performance I bought copies of "La Emergencia" (their latest album) as gifts for Inocencia and Fernando37 and also a copy of the Balun's ep collection. Oh, I forgot, all the Balun band members where there, they are huge fans of Superaquello!!! I love Balun too, a lot!
(you can get their new album on Itunes, it is titled "Something comes our way", go buy it damnit!
Before the band started playing Eduardo sung some songs with only a piano as company and it was a nice appetizer. Then the time came for the long awaited return of Superaquello. They played for an hour, maybe a bit more. They played songs from all their three albums, but mostly from the first one. All those songs where incredibly well received. The singing from the audience was almost as loud as the band, Patricia, Francis, al of them looked very happy and kindas nervous and a bit overwhelmed by all the love in the air. The two best moments in my mind where when they performed "Farifo" with all the political overtones and gay-pride love, and when they performed "Naranja", where a few where crying or teary-eyed afterwards, including, I think, Patricia. By the way, she is so pretty, I always have had a crush on her
Well, Inocencia and me took a bunch of pics, to be posted later, this will be all for now, tons of love to all, bye, a big kiss to all of you!have a great week, and go watch some football!!!!!!!!
