Hello to all, this is this week's update!
First of all, congratulations to all fans of the Barcelona Barca club for winning this week the championship, beating the also great Arsenal team. And the World Cup is just around the corner, yeah!!!
Yesterday was technically my dear Inocencia's birthday, and it will be oficially celebrated today, so YAY!!!
I will give her as gifts a few of the "X-files" boxed sets, one of her favorite series of all time.
This is a public service announcement: for those fans of "Buffy the vampire slayer" that still do not own the complete series boxed sets because they are too expensive to wait until May 30 to start buying them because they will be reissued very cheaply (at a suggested retail price of 40 dollars!!!), so this is your time to start buying them!!!!!
I am currently reading two very good novels: the latest by Arturo Perez-Reverte and another by the Colombian writer Guillermo Martinez, the former titled "El Pintor the batallas" and the latter "El viaje del loco Tafur".
To those fans of Perez-Reverte of old be aware that this is a different novel, much more in the style of Jose Saramago, instead of a story full of adventure this is one deals mostly with phylosophical topics such as responsability, morality and journalism, painting and war, etc. The story deals with the encounter between a photo-journalist who worked mostly covering war conflicts and a war veteran from the conflict between Serbs and Croatians. I strongly recommend that you seek this book, so far I love the prose and it offers some strong arguments related to the old chaos vs. order debate, a very good book so far!!!!
"El viaje del loco Tafur" deals with subjects like alienation and madness (madness like Stevenson's ouvre, some of Poe's stories and a few of Hawthorne's short stories). I am hooked to the story and cannot wait to read more by this young author. Oh, and I give a big thank you to Alfredo, the owner of La Tertulia for reccomending me Martinez's novel
I started watching "Lost" last week and I like it a lot. I do not have a clue as to how it will all end, but the ride has been very good so far, I like all the characters, especially Locke, Sayid and Charlie.
New music: the new Grandaddy, new Snow patrol, new Stills, new Flogging Molly live album, new Fobia album, new Matmos, new Thursday album, etc. Tonf of great shit, I particularly loved the new Fobia, the live Molly album and also the Raconteurs debut album
I think will not write more now, but I will probably write on Tuesday or near that date, take care and have a great weekend.
