It is Sunday night and time again for a new entry
Hopefully focusing on new music and some old stuff.
Oh, by the way, on Friday I started 10 straight vacation dayes YAYYYYYYYYY
And so far they have been a blast: tons of hangin' around, watching dvd's and lots of reading and listening to music. I am watching the X-files "Mythology" dvd series and they are amazing, I am in the middle of the "Black Oil" box and I am loving it.
On Friday I went to the mall and bought a very cool Rancid t-shirt for only 5 dollars
Then I went to indy hip hop music store and bought two mix cd's. I listened to one already and its kinda nice, but not great, it is titled "La Akademia". The other one I have high hopes becaused its made by an awesome local dj named Velcro and it features some of the best local underground mc's plus some cool cuts from US artists.
Afterwards I went with Inocencia to see a dear friend at her house, we went with tons of dvd's to choose what to watch, including "High Fidelity", "Lost in translation" and "Sideways" but we selected "Secretary" which was a great hit with our friend, afterwards we talked a lot about the movie and life in general. It was a great evening
My dear Inocencia is hooked with the Buffyverse, she is watching the second season right now and I will give her all the other dvd boxed sets for "Buffy" and "Angel" so she can watch later in the following week. I am very happy that I can share with her something I love so much. The characters of those series are my favorites and most dear out of ALL fiction and finally she will understand why I am so in love with those characters and stories.
Okay, music, new stuff inc ludes some Silvio Rodriguez, Calla, Devendra Barnhart, Bear vs. Shark, Feist, Arctic Monkees, some live Tori Amos stuff, a great electro pop single by the Heroes with Biblical names, the Dirty Three newest one, some live Belle and Sevastian, Anthony and the Johnstons, Ted Leo and Pharmacists, etc.
This week I finished the latest Leonardo Padura novel and am now rereading some old Santiago Gamboa novel, by the way, he rules, one of the young talents in World Lit, everyone into novels should check him out dammnit, same with Jorge Volpi!!!!!!
Well that is all, I will write more during the week because I will have idle time
Vacation time rules!!

i am going to see Nada Surf with my friend, luckily it's president's day and she doesn't have class...
and i have seen the film version of The Unbearable Lightness Of Being... and you're right the book is way better, but it would have been really hard to translate the whole of the book into a movie... whoever adapted it did the best they could though.
and yay for watching Secretary!
