Nothing much new going on at the moment. I'm still feeling annoyed and burned out, but I'm not the kind of person that will quit without a backup plan. I've been with these guys for years, and despite recent disappointments they do still offer a number of advantages that I might be hard pressed to find elsewhere.
I'm somewhat irritated that the reefer company I had in mind has failed to even return my phone call after I've made three attempts. That's pretty bad recruiting. Even if they weren't interested for some reason (I can't imagine why -- I'm very experienced and have a clean license), they ought to at least extend the courtesy of saying so. The next time I call will be my last -- and I don't imagine I will be particularly polite. They've got it coming at this point. A shame because I really liked what they were supposedly offering their drivers.
Whenever possible I try to listen to a program on Sirius radio's "Disorder" channel that comes on Saturday mornings called the Celtic Crush. It's got some really fantastic songs and artists. They'll play Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, and a LOT of stuff that I've never previously heard of. It's an awesome exposure to new artists that broadens my musical appreciation. Case in point:
Alan Stivell.
