Today was a pretty good day, as trucking goes. No pickup, no delivery. Just driving. I drove for 8 hours which is long enough to feel like I accomplished a good day's work, but not so long as to make me feel wiped out. So tonight I'm in Spiceland, Indiana which is about 45 minutes east of Indianapolis. I made the mistake of ordering a steak for dinner here at the Flying J when I'd intended to only have the salad bar. They were having a "sale" on steak, so I got talked into getting one against my better judgment. I've ordered steaks from the Flying J restaurants in the past and have ALWAYS been disappointed. Generally they cook them fine, but it is the cuts of beef that I take issue with. Compared to pretty much any other place one might eat steak from, the ones offered at the Flying J just.... suck. I should learn a lesson from this, but I've ordered a steak every once in a while despite this knowledge in some futile hope that I might get a good one some day. I really ought to just wait and eat my steaks while I'm at home. Then I can go to Outback or Longhorn or whatever. Bah.
So today's trip was good. Nice weather coming across Pennsylvania and Ohio and here into Indiana. A lot of motorcycles on the road today, which makes me jealous. It's something I'll get around to eventually, but my best estimates is that this goal is YEARS off... simply because I have other more important priorities for the time being.
Anyhow, I'm not Irish... but when I listen to this song it almost makes me wish that I was. Some of you may recognize it from "The Departed". Who fuckin' knew that an accordion could be a cool instrument? Or that you could combine celtic folk songs with PUNK ROCK for an outstanding result!?
Awesome.

Tonight I went trapshooting thinking I would meet up with my brother and see how he's getting on at coca cola but he and all of my other shooting relatives were absent, vexing.
Taking a couple days off.
Couple of days ago I was also thinking that I would rather have been Irish than polish, if you're going to be descended of an oppressed Catholic people be of one that has a halfway decent musical tradition. You never hear bad Celtic musicians. I too get jealous of motorcyclists, specially when I see one on the same bike as I have, which has actually happened only once.
Swift gets fuel from Flying J tankers at their terminals but I ironically their trucks never fuel at flying Js, something to do with incompatible charge accounts. I stop at flying J when I'm jonesing for those huge chocolate chip cookies they have.
