So today I spent just about 2 grand on a custom made folding bicycle that I wont get for 6 weeks. Yeah. Now generally I am a guy who enjoys instant gratification, but the research I did on this object of desire led me to believe that the specific company I made this purchase from really was the best available. Plus I like the idea of the bike being custom built for me. And in America, not China.
It'll be a "merlot" burgundy color, for which I paid an additional $150. I think I have to tweak just a couple of the component choices I've made upon having more time to reflect. But those are minor changes. And it's something of a shame that summer will be mostly over by the time this arrives. But the point is, hopefully, to inspire me to get active. May not be as active as I once was... still due to the demands of this job... but anything is better than nothing. And hopefully having such a beauty of a machine will inspire me to want to use it. Often.
Otherwise I am delaying that tasty new MacBook for no good reason. Hopefully this is justified. Today was a great example of a day where I had time to kill. I was done early and rather bored, but since I'm stopped in a rest area, there's really rather limited choices about how to spend my time. Sadly I've finished the entire season one of "Deadwood" already, so now I'm stuck watching the god-awful season 4 of "Miami Vice". Yes, I don't have to subject myself to this last and very unfortunate season of what was a great show for about 3 years. But I find it impossible to have purchased the first three without getting the last one. And since I have it in hand I feel compelled to watch it. My interest wanes frequently. The next time I am home, I've got season 2 (and possibly 3 as well) of "Deadwood" waiting on me. It might be profane, but frankly the story and characters are incredibly clever and complex. The other irony is that despite the profanity, the characters use some of the most eloquent American english I have ever heard. Reminds me of "Firefly" in that regard. Quite well done.
I had some other shit to say but I simply can't remember it now.
