Got my air conditioner and bunk-heater fixed yet again. Supposedly. We'll see if that lasts more than 24 hours this time. I've been getting annoyed at freezing my ass off at night just to save a bit of fuel.
The trucks have heaters that run off of diesel fuel. It keeps the sleeper berth nice and toasty without the need to run the motor all night long. Idling the truck uses approximately a gallon of diesel an hour, whereas the auxiliary heater probably uses less than a gallon for the entire night. Our newer trucks also have a chemical air conditioner that can cool down the sleeper berth overnight without running the truck. I don't have one of those, but then again my truck has nearly a half-million miles and to the best of my knowledge the company isn't retro-fitting the existing trucks... just adding it to the new ones they roll out.
But my regular air-conditioner is whats been broken. Hasn't really been any urgency since there have only been a few circumstances thus far this year that I've wanted to use it. Still, trucks are loud. And running down the road with the windows open can be really annoying. So I'm hoping that the fix done this time actually lasts. The warm weather can't be far away.
Not much else going on. My New Jersey court date (the bullshit ice-on-my-trailer ticket) was delayed again until the 24th, so nothing to report yet.
