I've really GOT to return home this weekend. There isn't much choice since I'm all out of my blood pressure meds. And the dispatchers are getting it done for me (they are usually quite accommodating). But I'm also getting screwed out of actual TIME OFF in the process. I'm in western Connecticut... about two-hours drive from the house. I'm waiting in line to be loaded for freight going WEST. For Monday morning delivery. Dispatch has me routed to go home (which adds about 220 miles round trip in the wrong direction), but I will barely have 24 hours there before I really must leave again. Kind of bullshit since you can't even reset your log book unless you have 34 consecutive hours off. But if I stayed the 34, I'd never be able to get the trip done and make the delivery on time. Bleh.
There's really nothing worse than looking forward to your first time off in two weeks, but then to have it ruined by NOT being able to actually relax because there's so much shit to do and so little time to do it.
Go to college, kids. This work schedule is for suckers.

Letters are fun though, more personal that way.
