I am sorry to report that my home state has some of the worst drivers on the road. I'm not really sure what the deal is, but in my humble opinion this small state has a disproportionate number of drivers with their head's squarely up their asses.
People, when it is raining you are REQUIRED to put on your headlights. And no... your marker lights are NOT sufficient. Putting on your headlights is not to help you see better... which I imagine is why so many of you fucking idiots aren't doing it. You must think it is retarded to put on headlights during the day. But in fact, the point is to help other people see YOU. Trust me when I say that it will ruin your day when I bring my 80,000 lb truck over top of your dumb ass because I couldn't see you... because you didn't have your goddamn headlights on during the heavy rain.
Wipers on means headlights on.
In other local news... I know that I will sound like an insensitive prick but I am just about fed up with all of the families of victims of the 2003 Station night club fire. Don't get me wrong... what happened was an unbelievably horrible tragedy. And yes, there are people that need to be held accountable. AMONG THOSE are the Derderian brothers who owned the club. But I get absolutely disgusted by the families who are outraged at the JUDGE in this case for accepting the plea deal. Your anger is seriously misdirected. I have two points to say about that:
1) Judge Darigan is not responsible for the deal. A plea deal is negotiated and agreed upon by the counsel of the parties involved. The judge can then accept (or not) based on his or her experienced judgement and whatever other factors are appropriate. If you are angry with somebody that this did not go to trial, try being upset with the Rhode Island attorney general. Who, by the way, is the two-faced fucking asshole responsible for spilling the news of the deal to the press ahead of time against the direction of judge Darigan. In typical Rhode Island fashion, the attorney general both AGREES TO a plea bargain deal and then publicly complains about it and criticizes the judge... trying to deflect any of his own responsibility.
The point is, judge Darigan has become the popular Rhode Island outlet for hostile feelings when in reality he's done the best possible with the situation he was handed.
2) Don't let anger replace a sensible and FAIR sense of what is JUST and right. This is another mass failure of the victim's families (and frankly many other people I have talked to locally). There is blame enough to go around. Not ALL of the responsibility rests on the shoulders of the two men who owned the club. Some, yes. All, no.
Don't forget that they were inspected by the fire marshall and PASSED. So what the fuck with that? If you put yourself in their shoes... having been given a passing grade by a so-called professional wouldn't you then THINK that you're good to go?
All I am saying is that your average person, and even your average business owner cannot be expected to know every possible thing about fire safety. If those whose job it IS to know those things say your business is safe... why would you think otherwise?
Rhode Islanders need to get a grip. The outcome (specifically in regard to the punishments given to the Derderian brothers) was fair.
