Alright, so I'm trying to decide how to spend my weekend. I'm in western Connecticut now and I have some time to kill. My pickup isn't ready until about noon on Friday. From here I'm routed home to Providence and then double-back to the delivery location which is near Ft. Wayne, Indiana for Monday morning. The thing is... if I DO go home I'll be lucky to get 24 hours there. The trip to the final destination from Providence is a day and a half drive no matter how you slice it. I can't legally do the whole thing on Sunday and make it on time. Yet if I don't take off a consecutive 34 (THIRTY-four) hours, then I wont even reset my log book hours. On the other hand... if I go towards Indiana directly I'll save 200 miles and I COULD stop at a truck stop for 34 hours along the way and reset my logs. Of course, missing out on going home.
I don't have any real need to go home aside from the fact that both my mother and my youngest sister would like to see the "Talladega Nights" movie. Supposedly waiting on me since my sister and I share an affinity for "Anchorman". So sure... it'd be nice to do that. But it's perhaps 4 extra hours of driving and essentially less time off. Not that spending 34 hours in a truck stop is the most entertaining thing in the world but I have this laptop and a couple of books to entertain me at least. I'm leaning towards just skipping the trip home right now.
I need to train this new dispatcher of mine better in regards to what kind of loads to give me to get me home. Frankly, it's the second week in a row he sent me home and I wont bother going. Unless I can get at LEAST 34 hours off then it really isn't worthwhile. Either an extra day to deliver needs to be included or simply get me the particular load a day earlier. Feh.
I had something else to say as well instead of what is essentially just a bitching post, but now I can't remember. Other than the fact that the Howard Stern show today was great as always. It was a re-broadcast from February 9th since they're on vacation this week... but I surely didn't mind. A certain part of it was so friggin' hot I almost had to pull over and rub one out. I resisted, but it wasnt easy.

Yeah, Howard Stern is rad.
