I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords
Something I don't write about too often is that I see some pretty horrible things out here on the road from time to time. A couple of winters ago there was a massive accident on I-80 in Pennsylvania involving a good number of cars and big trucks. There was a burnt husk of a tanker truck off on the shoulder for weeks afterwards.
About a month ago I witnessed a car come down a cloverleaf on-ramp WAY to fast and spin out into the oncoming traffic. He clipped at least three vehicles and missed me by perhaps 100 yards. I'd have killed the driver had he hit me.
During my first year of driving a truck I saw the remnants of a 2 truck accident on I-95 in Connecticut near the New York state line. I didn't see it occur, but when I passed by at about 4am the one truck that had rear-ended the other was black and smoldering. Whomever had been in there was extra crispy.
Slow down. Take it easy on the road. Be aware of what's going on around you for god sakes. Better to get where you're going a few minutes late than in the back of a hearse.
Peace.

Another I saw that was really bad was about 20 miles east of Oak Grove 70 truck stop in missouri, a van came down through the median and hit the front left corner of a bull rack full of cows. flipped it over, opened up the trailer like a can of sardines, smeared blood all over the road from where the cows hit the pavement, when I rolled by they were out there with a backhoe lifting dead bulls into the back of a dump truck. That was a nasty stinky mess.
