It's 72 degrees outside right now. Almost perfect sleeping temperature, and yet 2/3 of the friggin' trucks in this parking lot are running their engines.
Now... don't get me wrong. I am all about staying comfortable. You wont find me sweating my ass off in the sleeper berth of my truck when it is hot outside just to be politically correct. I'm all for running the truck if you really need to air conditioning or heat. And of course that is assuming a truck doesn't have one of the new auxillary power generators that supplies heat and AC without running the motor. But why the fuck does anyone really need to keep their truck running all night long when it is really nice out?
Figure, an average truck probably uses about a gallon of diesel an hour just at idle. Price of diesel these days is hovering around the neighborhood of $3 / gallon. By law, drivers are required to spend a 10 hour resting period in the sleeper berth of their trucks in between driving sessions. So we're talking about sending thirty bucks worth of dinosaur juice up the stack to keep that motor running all night long. When the temperature their air conditioners are probably set to is almost the same as the temperature outside.
Fuckin' retards man. Thirty bucks is thirty bucks.

Buncha douchebags. guy in my class was talking about the little generators you can get in class yesteday. I'd definitely want to have one of those, whether it was a company truck or my own, makes a lot more sense than running the whole truck all night.
