Through some amazing good fortune, I managed to get in and out of the greater Chicago area this morning without hitting any notable traffic. I'm shocked. Having a leisurely breakfast in Gary, Indiana now because there is time to kill. I'm making a pickup on the eastern side of the state but not until about 5pm or so. Then I'm taking that about a hundred miles to my company's garage because my cruise control isn't working. That may not sound like a very big deal, but believe me when I say that having a functioning cruise control makes the day a lot easier for several reasons. First, you don't have to leave your right foot in the exact same position for a ten hour drive. Secondly, it helps prevent speeding. Sometimes with my foot on the pedal I have a tendency to go faster than I should... but with the cruise I can pick an exact speed and not worry about going over. I guess that's only two reasons. How about #3: it annoys me. So hopefully tomorrow morning when the mechanics come in they can get that fixed for me without taking all day to do it.
I'm not sure what my weekend destination is yet. I don't really care, honestly. Send me south or send me home, it makes no particular difference to me this time. Although... knowing that I'll be spending a portion of my Saturday in the repair shop, if I do end up going to the New England area I wont really have much time to do anything other than pass through. Say hello. Do some laundry. Keep on truckin'.
But who knows... maybe it'll be Texas or Florida again. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.
