It'll be a busy weekend, but I got what I specifically asked for: a trip to Laredo. There's a brand-spanking-new Flying J truck stop down there that I'm intending to check out. I have a bit over 1200 miles to travel over the next two days. Not terribly hard or anything but they'll be long, full days. It'll be hot... but I love going south. Particularly Texas.
Might not have internet access on Saturday. Not sure yet. But my intention is to finally catch up on Sunday and see what everyone is up to.

I plan to keep my trailer for a while. I certainly don't ever plan to live entirely out of a truck. i would certainly have to have a massive yard sale and put a bunch of stuff in storage to do that.
Buying my own rig would certainly be exciting, but i guess the decision would just have to depend on sitting down with a pad and calculator and figuring out whether the numbers point to owership or employeeship. I've had the theory that for the first couple of years, (after the first year of learning what I'm doing) I might want to go completely bezerk and do as much long distance hauling as is humanly possible so as to make as much money as possible. I'd like to own a real house, even if I'm away a lot. Thing about that though is that though is sometimes I think I'd like to move out to buffalo or pittsburg where the real estate is way cheaper, as in a third of what it is around here. I could take classes at the local university and start myself an academic career after truckin for maybe ten years or so. No battle plan survives the first engagement so . . .
whatever. right now step one, or maybe it's step two, is to find a job that'll keep me alive while I'm in school.
Truckin, got my chips cashed in . . . I tend to get that Dead song stuck in my head lately.
Take care.
