Rhode Island is pretty much one big "hometown" really.

Reading: Michael Crichton's Prey. The premise is nanotechnology gone haywire. The scary part is that this is quite plausible.

Watching: "Deadliest Catch". I'm too old and out of shape for that shit these days, but the show is cool. It's about the (arguably) most dangerous job... crab fishing. The deckhands on these boats work almost nonstop for 5 days. Some boats had good luck, some didn't. Lets put it this way... the most successful of the boats paid their deckhands $27,000 for the 5 days. The least successful about $10,000. Quite a large discrepancy but consider that this was FIVE DAYS work and it isn't all that bad no matter what.

Of course, 6 people died fleetwide.

Also saw some show about how the oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico were recovering from last year's hurricanes. They got pretty messed up. At first I didn't understand why gas prices went through the roof after these storms. It seemed like simple price gouging. And frankly I do think there was a fair degree of that, though at least now I've learned there WAS something behind the reduction in supplies, and that always goes along with an increase in price. But in my opinion it has gone on way too long. I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that Exxon has replaced Wal-Mart as the world's richest corporation. Anyone really surprised by that?

So FINE. I ordered Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC version). I wasn't really sure if I wanted it or not but for chrissake it has been hyped up so much I figure I may as well. I wasn't really too crazy about Morrowind however, despite normally loving RPGs. But since I've finished one run-through on Vampire: Bloodlines I have less motivation to play it a second time. I will, but I'm in no hurry to do it.

Growing back the full goatee. I must be watching too much Mythbusters.

That's interesting, but yeah I guess I need to work on the photo and writing thing for real. But it would be fine for me to document your job sometime. Actually. ARRR!!!
