My Trip:
Day Three (the final day)
Brian and I got up early. I guess there is no sleeping in on vacation. *pout* Seems like something is wrong with that concept. But, I didnt want to rush the drive back to Portland. It is so gorgeous, and we wanted to stop and take some pics along the way back. Plus, we made plans to go to the new brides work and see her and her friends (that we met at the wedding). I really fell in love with all of them. It is rare that I click that quickly with one person, much less a group of people.
I forgot to mentionTHE HOTEL WAFFLES! I am used to hotels offering some sort of complimentary breakfast, but it is usually lacking. This place had these wonderful restaurant-grade Belgium waffle makers. I love Belgium waffles and thought I had died and gone to Heaven. In two and a half minutes, I had myself a plate of crispy goodness. I NEED to get myself one of those waffle makers. In light of the breakfast, I have been musing about how fun it would be to open a Bed and Breakfast on the Oregon Coast. I even grabbed a real estate magazine to see what was available. My brain has been crazy with ideas, like having 3 weeks a year where people from the BDSM scene can come and stay. Within the hotel, they could be free to dress in their sexy clothes, or no clothes at all, keep their slaves on leashes, and I would sell special toys and hold nightly group events. It sounds so fun, but who knows if I will ever do this. I tend to get lots of ideas that I never follow through on. Sigh
On my way back to Portland, I saw a covered bridge. I love those. They seem so old fashioned. This one was over a hundred years old. Here it is:
We found our friends office with no problem, and even that was in a woodsy area. So pretty! After a very fun visit with everyone, Brian and I drove our friend to her apartment. It is such a nice area. Her new husband wasnt home yet, so we visited with her while we waited. It was super fun because they have two ferrets! Ive seen them in the movie Beastmaster, but never in person! They are adorable and run around like maniacs! I would say I want one, but they dont hold still very long to cuddle like cats do, and I need my cuddles!
After her husband got home from seeing the latest Star Wars film, we all drove into downtown Portland. It was very pretty. It reminded me of a cross between Seattle (which Ive been too) and Philadelphia (which Ive only seen pics of). It was an odd mix of modern and classic buildings, and very clean. We all took a walk down by the river, and man, could they have MORE bridges? I could see 5 of them along the river from where I was standing. Wow.
It was getting late, so we thought we would have dinner together before Brian and I had to head for the airport. There just happened to be a very good Sushi place a few blocks away. Yum! My friends arent into raw fish, but they had big yummy-smelling steaming bowls of rice and chicken. It smelled more like Indian food than Sushi.
Too soon, it was time to go. I actually got misty-eyed! I had such a great time with them, and felt so relaxed, that I didnt want to come home. I felt a peacefulness in Oregon that Ive never felt in California. I feel like I am supposed to be there, soI have started a move-to-Oregon bank account. I figure that I should aim for the next year or two to make a break for it. I would love to buy a house there and NOT rent. God, I hate the idea of renting. The great thing is, I would be able to take my job with me. Thats the cool thing about it. Horny people can call me anywhere.
The plane ride was nice and smooth. I wanted to take a pic of the amazing sunset, but the damn propeller was in the way. Its not the best shot, but I still like it. All I got was this:
We got home very late, around Midnight, and Brian had to get up for work at 6am. Poor Brian! We were tired in the way one gets after getting home from a trip. Happy, but ready for sleep! All in all, it was a perfect, if not too short, vacation, and I cant wait to go to Oregon again.
Glad to see my kitties again though. I missed them.
