Thanks everyone, for your thoughts and good wishes.
So, I talked to the Vet and it looks like my boy is okay (as he can be). All his bloods came back normal except his uric acid levels in his blood (aka kidney issues). The doc said "normal" is 35 and Beau is at 60, which is only 1 point higher than the last time we did bloods about 5 months ago.
Bottom line: This is good news. I don't have to put him to sleep. He is in no discomfort.
The only thing the Vet suggests is that we may want to do sub-cu fluids 3 times a week. This is fine, but I can't stick a needle into my boy! If I bring him to the Vet's office, it costs $40 bucks a pop. I cannot afford $480 a month.
So... looks like I am gonna have to get brave and learn how to do the needle thing. I can buy the fluids and gear and put it in the fridge and do it myself for a LOT less per week.
*sigh* Wish me luck.
To celebrate, I told Beau that all is well, gave him a good brushing (which he LOVES!) and tooks some new pics. Some are blurry, cuz he was moving all around with purrs.
Here he is!
Rest asured, I was not choking him or anything. He just likes to stick his face into my hands and I snapped the pic when he was doing it, thus a bubble-eyed Beau!

and wow - your feeding schedule is even worse than mine! we've got three cats, one of which is allergic to chicken and so requires special food and must be physically separated from the other two during feeding time lest she steal their food (she's also mentally retarded and doesn't meow, so we have to be extra careful to remember to let her out when she's done eating since she can't remind us), and then we've also got two dogs, one of which is an adult and the other is a puppy, so they have different foods too, which we also occassionally supplement with raw. and they are a breed which characteristically doesn't really like to eat (amazing, huh - nature's anorexia, i swear), so we have to watch them and encourage them to make sure they actually do. and -then- we've also got ferrets, though they are free fed. but we've got four seperate feeding bins of different foods and an in-depth routine to make sure everyone eats what's theirs. it's madness.
