hm.
i saw bulletproof monk this afternoon. why is it that american directors have no clue whatsoever how to shoot or edit a fight scene? its like our honky brains can't figure out how to make a fight scene look graceful, or even an understandable flow of events for that matter. Since when did a whole bunch of three frame shots of fists and feet...

sometimes it seems like life conspires against me to keep me alone...perhaps there's a group of rich old white men sitting around a table plotting out the next way to keep the girls away from me...
i watch too many movies...
i'm always waiting for act 3, y'know? i figure i've gone through all the crappy obstacles act 2 delivers, its...

neat.
neat.
a horrfiyingly bad impromptu haiku:
two midgets walk by
life is really confusing
they pass me again
yikes...

oh, i blew it on the name; 'wish' is some other movie, the one i'm thinking of is 'CURE', which is by the same guy who made 'pulse' (kairo), which i think was horribly remade as fear.com, or at least, the premise was ripped off to make that movie...i find both movies much scarier than most david lynch, in a midget-walked-by kinda way. you just can't go wrong with zoomed-in deadpan representations of suicide...
and between poverty and gen-x sweatshopping, i say poverty any day, but the decision is always complicated by auxiliary factors like where is film cheaper, where are free actors easier to come by, where are GOOD actors easier to come by, etc. idunno, if this war continutes to repeat vietnam and there's another draft, it'll all be a moot point because we'll be neighbors in the up-and-coming film-production city of toronto...

blarg. another day of editing my movie, and then serving fat people fried food for crappy tips.
i wait tables and want to work in the entertainment industry. i am a walking cliche. i just need some theme music blaring my confidence and freespiritedness as i throw my beret in the air...
people that think 10% is an adequate tip should be mugged. i make...

yeah, i thought the katakuris was pretty sweet, in like an goofy, over the top sort of way... haven't seen visitor q yet, though I hear that's sweeeeet...
i dunno... i had my sights on making a bizarre, darkly comdiec musical of my own, so maybe it was just the vicarious thrill of seeing something i had envisioned working... who knows?
i'll definitely be looking for wish, though...

oh and film production of anykind is very... underground here... blah... underground isn't necessarily the right word, but its the closest one i can come up with...
pretty much all the professional level work here is either with one of the news stations, or making local commercials... there's a few small production companies out here that actually make movies... but they're very very small, and you never hear much from them...
that being said, i know a TON of people who call themselves filmmakers... and some even MAKE movies...(ah, wannabes) its weird... you think you're all alone making films in your spare time, and then you start telling people you do, and all the sudden all kindsa people who make films are coming outta the woodwork... i started a filmmakers club on my campus, mostly just to use as a tool to recruit actors from the theater dept. and to get my hands on some of the school shooting and screening equipment... however, i was blown away by the response... so.. umm... yeah... i dunno if i answered the question...
is there alot of film production in colorado? yes
can anyone make a living at it? no
ugh... and those 2-story post-production gen-x sweatshops... scary... i interned at one for awhile... not a whole lotta fun... although most of their work was for local television... *shudders* i spent my days cutting commercials into really bad movies for TV on a prehistoric deck to deck editor...
