Hey everybody. I'm working on a benefit show. The pertinent information follows:
Jello Biafra
Anne Waldman
Thurston Moore(of Sonic Youth)
March 9th, 7pm
at the Boulder Theater http://www.bouldertheater.com
$20
Proceeds to go to Burmese refugees( http://www.burmalifeline.org ), and migrant farm workers in the US.
I get to pick up Thurston from the airport, and that I think is pretty rad.
I'm going to be busting my ass fliering for this show so that we can get another show approved for April 22(Earth Day). For that show I am trying to get a Saddle Creek band to headline(www.saddle-creek.com), and local band meniskus(www.meniskusband.com) to open. Meniskus is the band I tried to get Andy to see, but he declined. We submitted out initial bid in an attempt to get Bright Eyes to play it. We could definitely sell out a Bright Eyes show. Can I really raise money for charity while getting to see one of my favorite bands and my favorite local band do a show together?
If these shows work out my friend Dan and I have delusions on grandeur that we can start a non profit and put on shows to raise money for different causes. Now how bad ass would that be?
Tonight Dan and I were fliering some bars on Pearl Street, and we walked by this italian restaurant, and meniskus was playing. On my way home I stopped in, and they finished an amazing version of Pachabel's Canon. Then they took a short break and I introduced myself and mentioned the benefit show, and they told me to call them tomorrow to talk more about it. It was a totally chance encounter. I hope this means things will work out well for all this.
So those of you who may be in Colorado on March 9th you should come check out this show. It's going to be a good time.
